Job summary

The Orpheus Centre in Godstone, Surrey, is seeking Learning Support Care Assistants (LSCAs) to empower young adults aged 18-25 with learning disabilities. You will support learners with education, social activities and independent living, promoting dignity and choice through person-centred care and arts-led development. Salary: £25,633.87 per annum.

Hours: 35 hours per week | 44 weeks per year. Location: Godstone, Surrey.

Qualifications

Two years' experience supporting young people or adults with learning difficulties or disabilities.
Caring, patient and positive approach.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Commitment to promoting independence, dignity and person-centred support.
Good literacy, numeracy and IT skills.
A Level 2 or 3 qualification in Learning Support or Health and Social Care is desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

Supporting learners in educational, social and independent living activities.
Providing personal care and supporting intimate care needs with dignity and respect.
Encouraging the development of communication, employability and life skills.
Supporting learners with daily living tasks such as meal preparation, shopping, budgeting and attending appointments.
Assisting with off-site activities, work placements and community visits.
Acting as a positive role model and keyworker.
Maintaining accurate learner records and contributing to individual support plans.
Supporting learners with manual handling requirements where necessary.
