Job summary

Employment Support Officer

Are you passionate about helping people overcome barriers and achieve sustainable employment? Do you have experience providing employment advice, guidance, and coaching to job seekers from diverse backgrounds?

Greenwich Local Labour and Business (GLLaB), the Royal Borough of Greenwich's award-winning employment support service, is recruiting four Employment SupportOfficers to support the delivery of either the Restart Scheme or the Work Well Programme.

This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference to residents' lives by helping them build confidence, develop skills, secure employment, and maintain long-term career success.

About the Role

As an Employment Support Officer, you will deliver high-quality employment advice and guidance to unemployed and economically inactive residents, supporting them on their journey into sustainable work.

Working within a fast-paced, target-driven environment, you will manage a caseload of customers with varied and complex barriers to employment. You will provide tailored one-to-one support, identify training and development needs, and create individual action plans that help residents achieve positive outcomes.

You will play a key role in ensuring GLLaB continues to deliver excellent services while meeting the requirements of external funders and programme targets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver frontline employment support, Information, Advice and Guidance services to local unemployed, economically inactive residents, and anyone seeking employment support.
  • Conduct one-to-one diagnostic interviews to assess individual needs, barriers, skills gaps and career aspirations. Develop personalised action plans to support customers into sustainable employment.
  • Provide job search support, job brokerage, coaching and employability advice.
  • Track customer progress and accurately record outcomes throughout the customer journey. Ensure compliance with programme requirements, quality standards and funding regulations.
  • Manage a large and diverse caseload while maintaining high levels of customer service.
  • Work collaboratively with employers, training providers, health services and community partners.

What we are looking for:

We are seeking proactive, motivated and results- focused professionals who have:

  • Significant experience delivering front line advisory employment support to a range of job seekers
  • Experience of conducting one to one diagnostic interviews todetermine the eligibility and level of training and/or developmentsupport needed for local unemployed job seekers.
  • Proven experience ofsupporting residents into work through a number of mechanisms including job brokerage, training, job search and coaching techniques and advisory sessions.
  • Experience of managing large caseloads andactively supporting customers into sustainable employment
  • Excellent organisational, problem-solving and IT skills, with the ability to track outcomes and ensure compliance standards.
  • A commitment to delivering services that meet GLLaB’s Quality Assurance Framework, Customer Service Excellence, Matrix standards, and the requirements of external funders.
  • Work flexibly, including occasional evenings/weekends for outreach or follow-up support.

An NVQ Level 3 in Advice and Guidance (or willingness to work towards it) is desirable.

A standard DBS check is required.
