Job summary

The Progeny Group Limited is recruiting an English and Wales-qualified solicitor to advise on a broad range of employment matters for employers and individuals. You will manage a varied caseload with appropriate supervision, draft and negotiate employment documents, and support clients through Employment Tribunal proceedings.

You will build strong client relationships, contribute to business development, and ensure compliance with regulatory and risk policies in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Solicitor in England and Wales with approximately 2 years’ post-qualification experience in employment law.
  • Experience managing a varied employment law caseload.
  • Working knowledge of Employment Tribunal procedures.
  • Experience drafting employment documentation and providing practical legal advice.
  • Strong legal research, drafting, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Effective organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Commercial awareness and an understanding of clients’ business needs.
  • Ability to work independently while recognising when supervision or support is required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a varied caseload of contentious and non-contentious employment matters with appropriate supervision where required.
  • Advise employers on day-to-day HR and employment law issues, including disciplinary and grievance procedures, capability, absence management, discrimination, whistleblowing, TUPE, redundancy, and employment status.
  • Advise individual clients on settlement agreements, unfair dismissal, discrimination claims, restrictive covenants, and contractual disputes.
  • Draft, review and negotiate employment contracts, service agreements, policies, staff handbooks, settlement agreements, and related documentation.
  • Support clients through Employment Tribunal proceedings, including drafting pleadings, witness statements and disclosure, preparing bundles, and attending hearings where appropriate.
  • Deliver practical and commercially focused advice tailored to each clients’ objectives and risk appetite.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through exceptional service and responsive communication.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the business on corporate transactions, restructures, and other cross-disciplinary work.
  • Contribute to business development by attending networking events, preparing articles and legal updates, delivering training sessions, and identifying opportunities for new work.
  • Maintain accurate time recording, billing, and case management in accordance with Progeny procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, professional standards, and the risk management policies.

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to work with both employer and individual clients, advising on a broad range of non-contentious employment matters.

You’ll manage your own caseload, build strong client relationships, and provide commercially focused advice that helps clients navigate complex workplace issues with confidence.
