Job summary

Ellisons, advertising on behalf of Spider, seeks an enthusiastic Employment Lawyer to join their team in Chelmsford, Essex. This full-time, permanent role welcomes both newly qualified solicitors and those with up to 3 years of PQE in employment law.

You will advise on a wide range of workplace matters, draft employment documents, and support colleagues across the firm while developing your career in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Qualified Solicitor in England and Wales with 0–3 PQE in employment law or relevant experience demonstrating readiness.
• Around 1–2 years' experience would be ideal, though newly qualified solicitors are welcome.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills, keen eye for detail and a practical, solutions-focused approach.
• Curious, proactive and keen to learn, with the confidence to build relationships and develop your career.

Responsibilities

• Advising on employment contracts, policies and workplace issues.
• Supporting disciplinary, grievance, performance and absence matters.
• Advising on dismissals, redundancies, restructures and settlement agreements.
• Assisting with employment tribunal claims, including unfair dismissal and discrimination.
• Drafting contracts, staff handbooks and other employment documentation.
• Building client relationships and working collaboratively across the firm.

About the role

No two days will be the same. You'll advise employers and employees on a wide range of workplace matters, providing clear, practical advice while building your confidence and taking increasing ownership of your work.
