Job summary

Weightmans LLP's Employment, Pensions and Immigration team is seeking a solicitor to play an integral role in growing the practice across the UK. You will manage a mixed caseload of employment work, including contentious and non-contentious matters, working alongside Partners to drive the team forward.

You will have 3-6 years PQE with strong academics and the ability to manage your own caseload. Excellent communication, organisational and time-management skills are essential; a flexible,

Qualifications

• Qualified solicitor with 3–6 years PQE in employment law.
• Strong academic record and extensive CV in employment, pensions or immigration matters.
• Experience managing a personal caseload and meeting deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Advising clients on the full range of employment law issues, including redundancy, disciplinary matters, grievances, whistleblowing, discrimination and detriment claims.
• Defending Employment Tribunal claims including drafting defences, bundles, witness statements and merits reports.
• Assisting other team members with caseloads and contributing to team targets.
• Drafting articles and legal updates for clients and internal publications.
• Assisting with business development initiatives including training and networking.

Job description

As a lawyer in our Employment, Pensions and Immigration team, this is a great opportunity to play an integral role in growing our business, working alongside Partners to drive the practice forward. You will manage a mixed caseload of employment work, working on both contentious and non-contentious employment matters and will be responsible for:

• Advising clients on the full range of employment law issues, including redundancy, disciplinary matters, grievances, whistleblowing, discrimination and detriment claims;
• Defending Employment Tribunal claims including drafting defences, bundles, witness statements and merits reports;
• Assisting other members of the team with their caseloads as appropriate;
• Drafting articles and legal updates;
• Assisting with business development initiatives including training and networking;
• Working in accordance with client and internal SLAs;
• Working in accordance with Weightmans' values and procedures;
• Contributing to set team financial and utilisation target

You will have previous experience and a genuine and demonstrable interest in the above area of work.

We also require you to have/be:

• 3-6 YR Qualified Solicitor (but all experienced quality candidates will be considered);
• Strong technical knowledge;
• Previous experience of managing your own caseload, although not essential;
• Attention to detail;
• Ability to multi-task, work to strict deadlines and targets;
• Excellent team work skills;
• Excellent communication, time management and organisational skills;
• Flexible approach;
• Strong academics and technical knowledge.
