Job summary

Weightmans' Employment, Pensions and Immigration practice is seeking an experienced employment lawyer to join our Birmingham team. You will support a mixed caseload of contentious and non-contentious work, advising on disciplinary matters, grievances and discrimination, and assisting with high-profile Employment Tribunal claims alongside senior colleagues.

Qualifications

• 1-3+ years PQE in employment law.

Responsibilities

• Advise clients on the full range of employment law issues, including disciplinary matters, grievances and discrimination.
• Play a key role in the conduct of defence of Employment Tribunal claims alongside senior colleagues.
• Support the team on change and restructuring projects.
• Communicate with clients and collaborate with the team on ongoing large-scale projects and manage own workload with supervision.
• Draft articles and legal updates, training and networking as part of a structured business development initiative.

About your new role

Our market leading Employment, Pensions and Immigration practice area is seeking an experienced employment lawyer to join our Team.

We advise clients across the UK and internationally, including some of the UK's largest and best known employers. We believe that the quality of our clients and the strength of our relationships with our clients speaks volumes about the quality of the service we provide.

The candidate will be based at our Birmingham office, which currently consists of 3 Partners, a legal director, 2 Principal Associates, 2 Associates, 3 Solicitors and 3 Paralegals.

Our team is highly ranked in the Legal Directories and has ambitions to grow further.

You will support and assist on a mixed caseload of contentious and non-contentious employment work and your responsibilities will include:

• You will also be required to advise clients on the full range of employment law issues, including disciplinary matters, grievances and discrimination matters. Playing a key role in the conduct of the defence of high-profile and cutting-edge Employment Tribunal claims working alongside leading KCs.
• Dealing with high profile claims against foreign embassies.
• Supporting the team in relation to change and restructuring projects
• Communicating with clients and working collaboratively with the team in the progression of ongoing large-scale projects and managing your own workload, with supervision.
• Drafting articles and legal updates, training and networking as part of a structured business development initiative.

About You

You will have previous experience and a genuine and demonstrable interest in the above area of work.

We also require you to have/be:

• 1-3+ years PQE
• Previous experience of advising on employment law matters
• Experience of handling employment tribunal claims
• Good teamwork skills
