Job summary

Weightmans Llp is seeking a qualified solicitor to join the Employment, Pensions and Immigration team. The role involves managing a mixed caseload across contentious and non-contentious employment matters and delivering client-focused advice.

You will work with Partners to grow the practice, draft updates, and contribute to achieving team targets while upholding the firm’s values and SLAs. Hybrid working is in place across multiple offices.

Qualifications

• 3–6 year qualified solicitor with strong technical knowledge.
• Experience managing own caseload is preferred but not essential.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Advise clients on the full range of employment law issues, including redundancy, disciplinary matters, grievances, whistleblowing, discrimination and detriment claims.
• Defend Employment Tribunal claims including drafting defences, bundles, witness statements and merits reports.
• Assist other team members with their caseloads as appropriate.
• Draft articles and legal updates.
• Assist with business development initiatives including training and networking.
• Work in accordance with client and internal SLAs.
• Work in accordance with Weightmans' values and procedures.
• Contribute to set team financial and utilisation targets.

Job description

As a lawyer in our Employment, Pensions and Immigration team, this is a great opportunity to play an integral role in growing our business, working alongside Partners to drive the practice forward. You will manage a mixed caseload of employment work, working on both contentious and non-contentious employment matters and will be responsible for:

• Advising clients on the full range of employment law issues, including redundancy, disciplinary matters, grievances, whistleblowing, discrimination and detriment claims;
• Defending Employment Tribunal claims including drafting defences, bundles, witness statements and merits reports;
• Assisting other members of the team with their caseloads as appropriate;
• Drafting articles and legal updates;
• Assisting with business development initiatives including training and networking;
• Working in accordance with client and internal SLAs;
• Working in accordance with Weightmans' values and procedures;
• Contributing to set team financial and utilisation target
  You will have previous experience and a genuine and demonstrable interest in the above area of work.

We also require you to have/be:

• 3-6 YR Qualified Solicitor (but all experienced quality candidates will be considered);
• Strong technical knowledge;
• Previous experience of managing your own caseload, although not essential;
• Attention to detail;
• Ability to multi-task, work to strict deadlines and targets;
• Excellent team work skills;
• Excellent communication, time management and organisational skills;
• Flexible approach;
• Strong academics and technical knowledge.
