Job summary

The Growth Company (GC) is hiring an Employment Advisor to guide unemployed individuals toward employment, training, and education under The Restart Scheme. The role involves delivering tailored advice, coordinating with partners, and conducting group and one-on-one sessions. A strong track record in welfare-to-work and meeting targets is essential.

The starting salary is £27,500 per year, rising to £29,272 after probation. Applications from eligible UK workers only.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and deliver advice, guidance and training for unemployed individuals.
  • Liaise with agencies (JCP, colleges, employers, training providers) to support progression to employment.
  • Deliver one-on-one and group activities, including initial assessments and job search sessions.
  • Identify learning needs and provide personalised interventions.
  • Refer customers to internal/external agencies to facilitate progress.
  • Plan trainings tailored to each customer's needs.
  • Support customers in deciding on options to meet needs.

Job description

The Growth Company's (GC) Employment, Justice and Health team is excited to announce a new opportunity for an Employment Advisor. In this role, you will provide guidance and training services to support unemployed individuals on who on their journey towards employment, training, and education through The Restart Scheme.

Please note that the starting salary for this role is £27,500 per annum, increasing to £29,272 upon successful completion of the probationary period.

The Restart Scheme is a Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) initiative that provides up to 12 months of tailored, intensive support to individuals who have been on Universal Credit for over 6 months gain employment. We help people overcome barriers to employment through personalised coaching, skills development, and job search support. The programme works closely with employers to connect participants to suitable opportunities, while also building confidence and readiness for work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and deliver advice, guidance, and training interventions for unemployed individuals.
  • Operate referral and liaison procedures with agencies (e.g., JCP, local referral partners, colleges, employers, training providers, and recruitment agencies) to support individuals in achieving skills and progressing to employment, training, and education.
  • Establish and deliver both one-on-one and group activities, including initial assessments, inductions, job search sessions, and follow-up appointments.
  • Identify and address individual learning needs through personalised interventions.
  • Refer customers to internal and external agencies to facilitate their progress.
  • Plan training and other interventions tailored to each customer's needs.
  • Assist customers in deciding on options to meet their needs and provide ongoing support.
  • Report any concerns related to the safeguarding of individuals.
About You
  • Proven track record of working with vulnerable customer groups.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet targets with a strong understanding of the local labour market, recruitment methods, and growth industries.
  • In-depth knowledge of welfare-to-work programmes and the customer base.
  • Familiarity with guidance and national standards.
  • Excellent rapport-building skills, professional demeanour, and good communication skills.
Skills Required
  • Extensive experience in sales, customer service, and the welfare-to-work sector.
  • Proven ability to thrive under pressure in high-performance environments.
  • Skilled in customer-facing roles across various sectors, including Customer Services, Hospitality, Social Care, Sales, and Retail.
  • Well-developed IT skills, including management information (MI) systems, spreadsheets, diary management, email, and data security.
  • Consistently meet key performance indicators (KPIs) and challenging targets.
  • Strong ability to network and effectively promote the organisation.
