Job summary

Academics are working with a welcoming primary school in Calne that is looking for a caring and dedicated Individual Support Assistant to provide one-to-one support for a pupil with additional needs. You’ll work alongside the class teacher and wider school team to tailor activities, support communication and social development, and follow the pupil's EHCP and school guidance.

DBS enhanced required, or willingness to apply.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in education, childcare, care or support work would be beneficial, though a patient, positive attitude and willingness to learn are important.
• Knowledge of BSL, Makaton or other augmentative communication approaches would be useful, but not essential.
• This role could suit an aspiring teacher, psychology or education graduate.

Responsibilities

• Providing dedicated 1:1 support to help a pupil engage with classroom learning and daily activities.
• Adapting tasks and learning activities to meet the pupil’s individual needs.
• Supporting communication, interaction and social development.
• Following the pupil’s EHCP and guidance from the school team.
• Encouraging independence, confidence and positive relationships with peers.
• Working closely with teachers, the SENCO and other professionals to maintain consistent support.
