Job summary

Morgan Stanley in London seeks a Trading Assistant/Analyst to support the Emerging Markets investment team. You will assist with pre-trade checks, monitor positions, perform post-trade allocations, and liaise with custodians and counterparties to resolve discrepancies.

You will gain exposure to FX, IRS, CDS, and NDF positions, with opportunities to work with US and Singapore teams. Flexible hours may apply based on liquidity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with strong academic record.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to prioritize and work under pressure.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Quantitative aptitude with basic financial concepts.

Responsibilities

• Assist traders with pre-trade checks including confirmation of derivative positions, current cash balances, and settlement locations.
• Monitor existing positions and coordinate execution with traders and portfolio managers.
• Perform post-trade functions including confirmation and providing allocations to brokers both manually and through electronic platforms.
• Work with custodians to ensure settlement of trades and communicate with counterparties to resolve discrepancies.
• Monitor FX matching and netting; ensure timely settlement to reduce risk of claims.
• Confirm and clear eligible IRS, CDS and NDF positions.
• Assist the trading desk in onboarding new counterparties, markets or trading systems.
• Track currency hedges or trading needs of other investment teams.
• Monitor corporate actions and provide color to portfolio managers for elections.
• Assist with reporting under Dodd Frank and EMIR and ensure compliance with local regulations.
