Job Description:
The Corporate Credit Team is responsible for providing management and analytical support for the Bank’s activities in its Global Markets business areas (FIC and Commodities) and implementing the Bank’s credit procedures and policies, including approval of credit limits. It manages a portfolio of structured financing credit risks associated with strategic lending transactions and related investing activities, aiming to manage risk within acceptable parameters.
This role involves managing a portfolio of structured financing credit risks, structuring, assessing, and managing risk within acceptable parameters. The candidate may also support the Bank’s commodities-related counterparty portfolio, for both financing and derivatives products.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluation and Approval of Credit Applications:
- Ownership and understanding of the risk profile of the structured transaction credit portfolio.
- Formulate and evaluate credit proposals, including comprehensive risk assessments for new or increased facilities, and conduct annual reviews of existing portfolios. Undertake quantitative and qualitative financial analysis to understand counterparty and structural risks.
- Support senior Credit management in all aspects.
- Collaborate closely with Deal Teams.
- Prepare and present applications to Credit Committee and other Risk forums involving Senior Management.
- Articulate credit appetite and provide guidance on deal structures and documentation to mitigate risks.
- Coordinate and ensure post-approval implementation of facilities and legal documentation complies with sanctions.
- Follow up on non-adherence to terms and conditions, assess inherent risks, and recommend actions to mitigate increased risks.
- Participate in ad-hoc projects and portfolio reviews as needed.
Ongoing Credit Management:- Proactively communicate key risks as they arise.
- Manage the portfolio of accounts with appropriate escalation, monitoring, questioning, and understanding changes in credit quality.
Leadership:- Demonstrate and develop a proactive, “Change the Bank” mindset.
- Initiate and own change projects within Credit and the Business.
- Support training and development of graduates and junior team members.
Business Support & Recoveries (BS&R):- Support the team with management of Watchlist and Non-Performing names.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience
- Experience in writing credit applications and analyzing transactions within a Financial Institution’s credit risk department.
- Good understanding of accounting principles to analyze financial strengths and weaknesses of clients and identify potential risks.
- Knowledge of lending and derivative products across sectors, ability to analyze cash-flow models, and conduct sensitivity analysis.
- Ability to understand structured deals and ensure sound security and covenant structures.
- Experience providing credit support to Deal and Sales Teams.
- Knowledge of risk systems for monitoring and analyzing client account behavior.
- Understanding of credit procedures, policies, and standards.
- Experience operating with delegated approval authority.
- Experience dealing with non-performing or defaulted names, including recoveries, is beneficial but not essential.
