SGN is recruiting an Emergency Planning & Resilience Manager to join a small, dedicated team. The role focuses on planning for, responding to, and recovering from incidents, driving preparedness across SGN’s networks, and ensuring swift, effective action to protect communities served.

You will advise Executives, develop training and exercise programmes, and collaborate with Gas Control, Cyber Security and Business Continuity to test and improve resilience arrangements.

Formación

• Extensive experience in emergency planning, resilience or business continuity.
• Knowledge of Civil Contingencies Act 2004, JESIP and related legislation.
• Experience engaging diverse stakeholders and leading cross‑functional teams.

Responsabilidades

• Act as a trusted advisor to Executives and Senior Leaders during planning and response activities.
• Drive preparedness by developing and maintenance of resilience plans and incident response capabilities.
• Design and deliver training, testing and exercising programmes across the organisation.
• Collaborate with Gas Control, Cyber Security and Business Continuity to stress-test arrangements.
• Build and nurture relationships with resilience partners and stakeholders for shared learning.
• Lead horizon scanning and lessons learned reviews to drive continuous improvement.
• Occasionally undertake duties outside normal hours during incidents or on-call periods.

We've got big plans, and resilience features heavily in them. We're looking for a confident, capable Emergency Planning & Resilience Manager to help us bring those plans to life.

You will form part of a small, dedicated team of Resilience professionals working to a Resilience framework and developing associated plans to ensure we can plan for, respond to, and recover from incidents and emergencies. You will drive preparedness efforts, ensuring we are “incident-ready” and able to respond swiftly and effectively to the situation at hand, ensuring the best outcomes for the communities we serve.

• Act as a trusted advisor to Executives and Senior Leaders, during planning and response activities, ensuring a culture of continuous improvement


• Work as part of a small team to ensure the availability of expert, specialist and authoritative advice on all aspects of emergency planning and incident response across our networks


• Develop and deliver comprehensive training, testing and exercising programmes for colleagues at all levels to embed a resilience mindset; with specialist training for specific roles in incident response and all managers on-call.


• Work collaboratively with internal colleagues including Gas Control, Cyber Security and Business Continuity to stress-test arrangements and implement any improvements identified


• Ensure relationships and reputation amongst resilience partners, industry colleagues and stakeholders are nurtured and enhanced, highlighting opportunities for joint learning, testing and exercising


• Spearhead and drive preparedness and continuous improvement by conducting regular reviews and horizon scanning, ensuring we identify and learn lessons from all of the above activities.


• To undertake such other duties appropriate to the character of work as may reasonably be required, including working outside normal hours from time-to-time during incidents or emergencies and any on-call arrangements that may be implemented.

What You Will Need

• Extensive experience in emergency planning, resilience or business continuity – ideally gained within a Category 1 or Category 2 responder agency OR Extensive Operational Gas experience


• Any Resilience-related qualifications and certifications would be an advantage


• Knowledge and experience of working under Civil Contingencies Act 2004, JESIP principles and other legislation (COMAH, MAHP etc)

We're also looking for;

• Experienced in engaging and influencing diverse stakeholders to drive outputs


• A tenacious attitude, excellent communication and strong leadership skills


• Demonstrable experience of training, testing and exercising (planning and delivery)


• Ability to drive organisational learning and the embedding of improvements


• SC Clearance or the ability to achieve this

Regular travel may be required across our SGN operating area, primarily to our Farringdon, London office
