Job summary

Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue is seeking aDriver Training Instructor to deliver and assess LGV driver training, maintain records, and update training materials in line with national standards. You will collaborate with partner organisations and lead environmental training initiatives within the service.

The role requires an assessor qualification, a coaching/instructional background, and a commitment to CPD, with hybrid working and strong team collaboration emphasized.

Qualifications

• LGV Category C with at least 3 years' experience.
• Emergency driving experience/qualifications.
• Assessors' qualification.
• GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent) at Grade C or above.
• Ability to use MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Recognised instructional or coaching qualification.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development (CPD).
• Strong organisational, communication, and record-keeping skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Deliver and assess driver training across a range of fire and rescue vehicle and locations.
• Maintain accurate records of training activities, assessments, and participant progress.
• Update and develop training materials to reflect current best practices and legislative requirements.
• Ensure all training courses comply with National Fire Chiefs Council, DVSA, and relevant standards.
• Manage training equipment and resources, ensuring they are fit for purpose.
• Lead initiatives related to environmental training and sustainability.
• Collaborate with external partners and other fire and rescue services to enhance training outcomes.
• Support quality assurance processes to monitor and improve training delivery.
• Undertake additional tasks to support OFRS objectives.
