Job summary

Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service is seeking a Driver Training Officer to deliver and assess specialist driver training for firefighters and staff. The role includes creating and updating training packages, maintaining records, and supporting environmental training initiatives.

The post requires a LGV Category C licence with at least three years of driving experience and an emergency response driving background.

Qualifications

• GCSE maths and English at grade C or above or equivalent.
• Assessors qualification is required.
• Recognised instructional or coaching qualification.

Responsibilities

• Deliver and assess driver training across fire service vehicles and locations.
• Create and update training packages and materials reflecting best practice and legislation.
• Ensure courses comply with NFCC, DVSA and legislative standards.
• Maintain records of training activities, assessments and progress.
• Manage training equipment and resources; ensure they are fit for purpose.
• Lead environmental training and sustainability initiatives.
• Collaborate with external partners and other services to improve outcomes.
• Support quality assurance to monitor training delivery.
• Attend meetings and training to support professional development.
• Undertake additional tasks to support service objectives.
