Job summary

Provide CIC is recruiting a Tobacco Dependence Advisor to support the Emergency Department Stop Smoking Service across Norfolk's three acute hospital trusts. Based at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, King's Lynn, you will work flexibly across sites to identify adult smokers, deliver brief advice and help patients start a quit journey.

You will offer vape starter kits, record engagements, and liaise with teams to monitor performance, with follow-up within 48 hours and weekly contacts up to the 6-week

Responsibilities

• Promote the new Stop Smoking Service across Norfolk Acute Trusts.
• Proactively identify and engage with adult patients and visitors in the three Emergency Departments who smoke; deliver Very Brief Advice (VBA) and encourage engagement with cessation services.
• Provide immediate, evidence-based, non-judgemental advice and support using brief intervention models tailored to the Emergency Department setting.
• Offer free vape starter kits to support immediate quit attempts, in line with national harm reduction guidance.
• Record engagement, quit attempts and referrals to support performance monitoring, service evaluation and reporting.
• Maintain contact with patients, contacting them within 48 hours of engagement and at least weekly up to the 6-week quit date (up to 28 days).
• Work toward monthly KPIs and adapt delivery to meet projected long-term outcomes.
