Job summary

Ashford & St. Peter's Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting a Nursing Associate for the Emergency Department.

The role involves working as part of the nursing and multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality care for patients with major and minor injuries and illnesses. You will be safe, competent and confident in performing a wide range of activities under supervision, following patient pathways and care plans.

Qualifications

• NMC Registered Nursing Associate with hospital experience.
• Ability to manage cohorts of patients and work without direct supervision.
• Competence in clinical care tasks relevant to the Emergency Department.

Responsibilities

• Ensure a welcoming, caring and safe environment for patients and visitors.
• Carry out observations, document and escalate deteriorating patients as per pathway.
• Initiate Basic Life Support for collapsed patients until medical help arrives.
• Assist with safe transfer of patients within the department and hospital.
• Perform skills such as ECG, venepuncture, cannulation, catheterisation, NG tubes, wound care and splintage.
• Maintain accurate records in line with NMC standards and patient pathways.
