Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in Dorchester is seeking a Clinical Practice Educator for the Emergency Department. The role requires leading and delivering expert clinical education across adult and paediatric areas, including Resus and Majors, in a fast-paced ED.

As a Band 7 educator, you will develop competencies, support induction and ongoing staff development, and collaborate with nursing, medical and AHP teams to ensure safe patient care and adherence to national guidance.

Qualificações

• UK Registered Nurse with active registration.
• Master’s level in a health-related subject.
• Recognised teaching qualification and recent experience of teaching/supervising learners.
• Evidence of continued professional development.
• Health assessment and physical examination qualification.
• Non-Medical Prescriber (willing to work towards).

Responsabilidades

• Lead, coordinate and deliver high-quality clinical education across all Emergency Department areas, involving both adults and paediatrics.
• Provide visible, hands-on clinical support, working alongside staff in real time to identify learning needs, reinforce safe practice and promote high standards of emergency care.
• Develop, implement and monitor competency frameworks to ensure staff at all bands maintain the skills required for a high-turnover ED environment with complex adult and paediatric presentations.
• Support induction, preceptorship and ongoing development for new starters, students, internationally-educated nurses and existing staff, ensuring consistent learning experiences across all clinical areas.
• Facilitate clinical supervision, assessment and sign-off, including reflective practice, skills development and professional growth.
• Collaborate with senior nursing, medical and AHP teams to ensure education aligns with service priorities, trauma pathways, patient safety standards and national guidance.
• Act as a specialist resource for emergency and trauma care, providing guidance on best practice, policy updates and emerging evidence.
• Monitor training compliance and evaluate learning outcomes, producing reports and action plans to support continuous improvement.
• Promote a positive learning culture, encouraging innovation, supporting wellbeing and helping staff thrive in a demanding, fast-paced ED environment.
