Job summary

The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting a Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse for the Emergency Department at Russells Hall Hospital. The post is fixed-term maternity cover or secondment, focused on patient flow, multidisciplinary teamwork, and supporting the Lead Nurses and Matron.

The role requires extensive ED experience, NMC registration, and strong leadership and teaching skills to maintain high standards of care. Start dates are specified in the advert.

Qualifications

• Evidence of ongoing professional development and study since qualification.
• First level NMC registration is essential.
• Extensive post-registration experience, with Emergency Department exposure.
• Clinical skills in venepuncture, cannulation and ECG.
• Proven ability to lead, support and teach staff.
• Strong communication skills, including verbal and written.

Responsibilities

• Manage the ED patients and areas during each shift.
• Organise department activities and manage staff and resources.
• Assist Nurse in Charge to deliver high quality care and maintain patient flow.
• Monitor patient throughput within the department.
• Implement the Escalation Policy as required.
• Support Lead Nurses and Matron in service development and quality.
