Job summary

East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust is seeking a Band 6 Nurse Team Leader for the Emergency Department (EDGH cross-site) to oversee a dedicated nursing team at the Conquest Hospital. The role requires a minimum of two years post-qualification experience in an ED setting and a mentorship level or equivalent.

We offer mentorship, clinical supervision and opportunities for professional development within a supportive NHS environment. A qualification in mental health nursing is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse with active NMC registration.
• Degree level qualification relevant to role.
• Professional qualification and training to lead the clinical team with relevant knowledge and skills.
• Evidence of mandatory training skills (BLS, manual handling, infection control, fire).
• Management or leadership qualification or training.
• Education and training qualification.
• Quality improvement training and qualification.

Responsibilities

• Lead a dedicated team to deliver high‑standard nursing care.
• Manage a shift in the Emergency Department under pressure.
• Provide mentorship and clinical supervision within the unit.
• Lead and coordinate patient flow and clinical handovers.
• Support professional development of staff and drive quality improvement.
