Join our team as a Vice President in the EMEA Global Transportation Group!

This is a fantastic opportunity to grow your career at J.P Morgan Asset Management Inc. (JPMAM), which manages employee benefit plans for public and private institutional investors and provides investment management services for a broad spectrum of other institutional investors, including foundations, endowments, sovereign governments, defined contribution plans, and insurance companies, as well as other institutional and individual investors through mutual funds, investment partnerships, and other pooled investment vehicles.

As an EMEA Global Transportation Group Controller - Vice President in the Global Transportation Group team, you will oversee transportation investments globally across several fund structures. You will work closely with an experienced group of professionals and be involved in all aspects of financial reporting, analysis, accounting, internal controls, and oversight related to transportation (maritime, aviation, and land-based) investments.

JPMAM actively participates in global equity, fixed income, emerging markets, currency markets, as well as real estate, transportation, and infrastructure markets. JPMAM Alternatives identifies, analyzes, acquires, and manages real estate, global transportation, and infrastructure assets through various ownership structures. As an investment manager on behalf of its clients, JPMAM develops, enhances, and operates these assets, while also assessing capital markets and controlling investment risk to determine optimal financing, diversification, and disposition strategies.

Job Responsibilities
  • Provide oversight and support in managing Global Transportation Funds; develop and maintain a financial infrastructure that is efficient and flexible to respond to a growth-oriented business; ensure responsibilities and deadlines are met.
  • Review and oversee quarterly accounting and financial reporting processes; continually improve reporting quality and communication.
  • Manage operational aspects of fund structures, including cash management, vendor management, and investor reporting.
  • Understand investment structures, debt documents, partnership agreements, and sale and purchase agreements; evaluate related accounting and reporting issues.
  • Collaborate with the investments team to facilitate effective deal execution.
  • Interact with independent auditors, tax practitioners, legal advisors, and third-party service providers.
  • Participate in investment valuation processes.
  • Oversee and review reporting from joint venture partners and portfolio companies' finance teams.
  • Ensure proper control and periodic auditing of administrator/partner accounting systems and records.
  • Support fund activities such as capital calls, distributions, and fee calculations.
  • Participate in other significant fund projects.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
  • Chartered Accountant (ACA or ACCA) or equivalent; Big 4 or mid-sized training background preferred.
  • Experience with open-end or closed-end funds, limited partnerships, and operating company investments.
  • Strong resource management, presentation, facilitation, and consensus-building skills.
  • Decisiveness, problem-solving, and recommendation skills.
  • Ability to build strong internal and external relationships.
  • Experience interacting with senior portfolio and asset managers, leveraging team expertise.
  • Efficiency in managing multiple tasks and delivering outcomes.
  • Understanding of US GAAP, IFRS, and other GAAPs.
  • Knowledge of currency implications, Fair Market Value accounting, and industry accounting and tax trends.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, especially Excel.
Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
  • Experience with open-ended funds.
  • Experience in fast-paced, transaction-intensive environments.
  • Experience in Private Equity or Infrastructure Funds.
  • Previous employment at a Big 4 firm.
