Job summary

The role requires HCPC or AGCS registration, significant post-qualification experience, and independent competency in ICSI, vitrification and embryo assessment.

Qualifications

• Significant post-qualification clinical embryology experience
• Independent competency in ICSI, vitrification and embryo assessment

• Strong knowledge of HFEA requirements and quality management systems

Responsibilities

• Perform full range of embryology procedures: oocyte retrieval, IVF, ICSI, embryo culture, grading and transfer
• Carry out vitrification and warming of oocytes and embryos
• Perform sperm preparation and andrology procedures
• Lead day-to-day running of the laboratory
• Supervise, train and mentor junior embryologists and trainees
• Contribute to quality management, audits, SOP development and KPI monitoring
• Ensure compliance with HFEA regulations and clinic quality system
• Communicate treatment progress and embryo development with patients
• Collaborate with consultants, nurses and multidisciplinary team

Key Responsibilities

• Perform the full range of embryology procedures, including oocyte retrieval, IVF, ICSI, embryo culture, grading and transfer
• Carry out vitrification and warming of oocytes and embryos
• Perform sperm preparation and andrology procedures
• Take a lead role in the day-to-day running of the laboratory
• Supervise, train and mentor junior embryologists and trainees
• Contribute to quality management, audits, SOP development and KPI monitoring
• Make sure all work complies with HFEA regulations and the clinic’s quality management system
• Communicate with patients about treatment progress and embryo development
• Work closely with consultants, nurses and the wider multidisciplinary team

Requirements

• HCPC-registered Clinical Scientist or AGCS-registered Embryologist
• Significant post-qualification experience in a clinical embryology laboratory
• Independent competency in ICSI, vitrification and embryo assessment
• Experience supervising or training junior staff
• Strong knowledge of HFEA requirements and quality management systems
• Experience with time-lapse imaging and/or embryo biopsy (PGT) desirable
• Excellent communication skills and a patient-focused approach
