Job summary

Morgan McKinley (South West) is recruiting Embedded Software Engineers at all levels for Hampshire-based defence and security projects, focusing on high-reliability firmware and driver software for mission-critical hardware. You will work across the full software lifecycle using C and C++, with bare-metal, RTOS (FreeRTOS, VxWorks) or Embedded Linux, collaborating with hardware, FPGA and systems teams.

Degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Embedded Systems, or electronic engineering.
Strong hands-on experience with C/C++.
Experience with bare-metal, RTOS, or Embedded Linux kernel/driver development.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, and deploy embedded software for real-time systems.
Create BSPs, device drivers, and low-level communication protocols.
Collaborate with hardware, FPGA, and systems teams during bring-up and debugging.
Develop bare-metal firmware or software on RTOS or Embedded Linux.
Write unit tests, test scripts, and documentation to meet safety standards.
Senior level: lead architecture, code quality, reviews, mentor juniors.
