Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Physics or related field with 2:1 or higher.
• Hands-on embedded C programming experience.
• Experience with FreeRTOS or another RTOS.
• Proficient with Git/source control.
• Strong unit testing skills and numeracy.
• Familiarity with ISO 9000 standards.
• Experience with USB firmware and low-level USB protocols desirable.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement embedded software: Develop C code for microcontrollers and embedded systems with focus on performance and reliability.
• FreeRTOS development: Implement and maintain FreeRTOS-based software ensuring real-time performance.
• Debugging and testing: Use JTAG and oscilloscopes to verify hardware/software interactions; perform unit and integration tests.
• Develop new features for RISCV-based platforms to meet market requirements.

Responsibilities of this Embedded Software Engineer – C / FreeRTOS job based in Fareham:

• Design and implement embedded software: Develop efficient, low‑level code in C for microcontrollers and embedded systems, ensuring optimal performance, resource usage and reliability.
• FreeRTOS development: Develop and maintain embedded software using FreeRTOS, working with real‑time operating system concepts and ensuring reliable system performance.
• Debugging and testing: Use debugging tools and methods, such as JTAG and oscilloscopes, to troubleshoot hardware/software interactions, optimise code and perform system validation through unit and integration testing.
• Develop new features: Contribute to the development of new features and functionality to meet market requirements on RISC‑V‑based platforms.

Requirements of this Embedded Software Engineer – C / FreeRTOS job based in Fareham:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Physics or a related field, with a 2:1 classification or higher.
• Proven practical experience in embedded C programming.
• Experience working with FreeRTOS or another real‑time operating system.
• Must have experience with GIT/Source control.
• Proficient in software unit testing and able to demonstrate a strong aptitude for numeracy.
• Working knowledge of ISO9000 standards and version control systems.
