Job summary

STEMCELL Technologies Canada Inc. is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to develop, maintain, and extend GMP-instrument software for high-throughput cell sorters used in clinical and research settings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in software engineering, computer science, or a physical science with 2-6 years of professional software development experience or equivalent in a research setting.
• Proficiency in C and preferably one other language (Python, Java, C#, or C++) with experience developing desktop applications and interfacing with hardware.
• Strong understanding of modular design, modern software engineering practices, Git, collaborative development, testing, documentation, and software verification.
• Clear communicator and collaborative team player, able to understand wider system context and contribute to implementation decisions.
• Interest or experience in scientific software, instrumentation, FPGA programming, or advanced medical and life science technologies; familiarity with regulatory frameworks is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain application features in our instrument software and in-house manufacturing rigs.
• Collaborate with engineers and scientists to refine requirements, solve technical challenges, and implement effective solutions.
• Contribute to GMP-compliant software development, including clear documentation, testing, and certifications.
• Write robust, maintainable, and well-tested code in line with internal standards, participating in design reviews and working closely with our multidisciplinary team.
