Job summary

Searchability is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to prototype wireless solutions and develop firmware for real-time embedded platforms.

You will work with C/C++ on embedded Linux, bare-metal and platforms like MicroBlaze and RISC-V, moving innovative prototypes through to deployment-ready systems.

The role is onsite in Portsmouth, three days per week, for an initial 6-month contract and SC clearance is required.

Qualifications

• Proven experience programming embedded systems using C/C++
• Strong experience across bare-metal and embedded Linux environments
• Experience developing Linux device drivers
• Knowledge of DMA, interrupts and device trees
• Experience with Buildroot and/or Yocto
• Experience with U-Boot and Linux Kernel configuration
• Knowledge of Digital Signal Processing (DSP)
• Knowledge or experience of Software Defined Radio (SDR)

• £60 per hour via Umbrella

We are recruiting for an innovative technology organisation seeking an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to join its Advanced Developments Group (ADG).

The ADG is a small, highly innovative team focused on developing cutting-edge technology solutions for key customers. Due to increased demand, they're looking for an engineer who can develop and prototype embedded software solutions before taking proven concepts through to deployment standard.

THE EMBEDDED SOFTWARE ENGINEER ROLE

As an Embedded Software Engineer, you'll use your technical expertise to prototype innovative wireless solutions and develop embedded software and firmware across real-time embedded platforms.

You'll primarily work with C/C++, developing software for embedded Linux environments and taking innovative prototypes through to a deployment-ready standard.

The role will involve working across both bare-metal and embedded Linux environments, including development on platforms such as MicroBlaze and RISC-V, as well as configuring and deploying embedded Linux systems in offline environments.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

We're looking for an experienced Embedded Software Engineer with strong C/C++ development skills and practical experience working across embedded systems.

You'll ideally have:
