Job summary

HID Global in Cardiff seeks an Associate Engineering Manager – Embedded Product to lead a newly formed team delivering desktop and embedded readers. You will guide architecture, security integration, and platform harmony with PACS, while remaining hands-on when needed.

You will recruit, mentor, and manage engineers, ensuring delivery and alignment with IDT engineering across multiple sites. The role blends technical leadership with people management in a dynamic security-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree in Computer Science, Electronics or related field.
• 7+ years embedded software development experience.
• Experience leading engineers in a matrix organisation.
• Strong proficiency in C for resource-constrained embedded systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and contribute hands-on with engineers on ARM Cortex-M under Zephyr RTOS.
• Lead recruitment, onboarding, performance reviews and career progression for Cardiff engineers.
• Coordinate with PACS engineering and ensure platform governance and standards are followed.
• Serve as Scrum Master and refine backlogs with Product Owner, ensuring timely delivery.
• Define test and CI strategy aligned with PACS platform practice.
