Job summary

TSC Subsea is seeking a Firmware Developer in Swansea to own embedded firmware design and delivery across hardware platforms. You will collaborate with hardware, software, and quality teams to ensure reliable, field-ready solutions.

The role emphasizes MISRA C guidelines, RTOS/embedded Linux environments, and robust testing practices, with a strong focus on safety-critical performance and seamless system integration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering, Embedded Systems, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• 2–5 years of embedded firmware or low-level software development experience.
• Strong proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems with hardware interactions.
• Experience with UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, and Ethernet.
• Experience with RTOS and embedded Linux environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain embedded firmware for microcontrollers and hardware platforms with focus on performance and reliability.
• Debug, test, and validate firmware on target hardware using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and debuggers.
• Implement and optimise hardware interfaces and communication protocols (UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, Ethernet).
• Own firmware design decisions and architectural trade-offs for assigned systems and drive system integration.
• Create and maintain clear technical documentation and test procedures.
