Job summary

Amazon is seeking an experienced Forward Deployed Engineer II to embed with a strategic enterprise customer, design, build, deploy, and run AI-powered production systems alongside the customer's engineers.

As an autonomous contributor, you will own design trade-offs, deliver features across the software lifecycle, mentor teammates, and drive AI adoption while ensuring scalable, reliable operations.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of non‑internship software development experience.
• Experience in Agile, startup, or rapidly scaling environments.
• Experience communicating technical concepts to diverse audiences.
• Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Experience with agentic and spec‑driven development (AI agents a plus).
• Experience with AI tools: eval frameworks, agent tooling, RAG pipelines, and prompt engineering.

Responsibilities

• Embed within customer engineering teams and translate requirements into technical designs for AI production systems.
• Build production AI applications powering AI and agentic workflows, integrating data sources and applications.
• Own production for your workstream across scoping, design, code, and deployment, including monitoring and CI/CD.
• Mentor and uplift team members, conducting code reviews and sharing best practices.
• Accelerate customer adoption by codifying reusable patterns and improving operations.
