Job summary

Amazon Forward Deployed Engineers embed with strategic enterprise customers to design, build, deploy, and run AI-powered production systems, collaborating with customer engineers to deliver measurable business outcomes.

FDEs craft reusable architectures and patterns, write production-grade software, and own outcomes end-to-end from prototype to enterprise deployment. Travel 30–50% is required as part of customer engagements.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software development experience (non-internship).
• 5+ years of programming with at least one software language.
• 5+ years of leading design/architecture of systems.
• Experience as a mentor or tech lead on engineering teams.
• Strong ability to communicate complex tech concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical delivery across customer engagements.
• Own the technical strategy and execution for complex AI programs across multiple services and boundaries.
• Architect and build production AI systems at scale.
• Define operational standards and production readiness criteria for AI systems.
• Scale the team's effectiveness by defining patterns, mentoring FDEs, and driving engineering excellence.
• Identify opportunities to expand AI adoption across the customer organization.
