Job summary

Lonza is seeking an ELN Implementation specialist to join its Biologics R&D team in Slough. You will own and deliver lab informatics solutions (ELN, SDMS) enabling scalable, high-quality workflows across R&D.

You will lead end-to-end implementation, drive adoption, and partner with scientists to translate workflows into structured digital solutions. Strong data modelling, FAIR principles, and API integrations are essential.

Qualifications

• MSc in Bioinformatics, Biology, Chemistry, Engineering or related field.
• Hands-on experience implementing or owning ELN/SDMS platforms in pharma/biotech R&D.
• Significant experience as power user of ELN systems with configuration/rollout.
• Strong understanding of scientific workflows and data lifecycle management.
• Experience with data modelling, metadata standards, and FAIR data principles.
• Programming/scripting experience (Python, R, SQL) and API integration (REST, GraphQL).
• Strong communication skills across scientific and technical teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end implementation, configuration, and optimization of ELN/SDMS across R&D.
• Act as a subject matter expert, driving adoption and continuous improvement of lab informatics platforms.
• Translate experimental workflows into structured, scalable digital solutions.
• Design and implement data models, templates, metadata structures, and workflows aligned with FAIR principles.
• Build and maintain integrations between lab systems, automation platforms, analytics tools, and cloud environments using APIs and middleware.
• Develop robust data flows to improve interoperability and data quality; minimize manual effort.
• Provide user training, documentation, and ongoing support for successful system adoption.
• Contribute to digital architecture discussions shaping Lonza’s R&D data ecosystem.
