Job summary

Sterling Personnel LTD is seeking an experienced HGV Class 1 Driver to join our dynamic logistics team. You will operate large commercial vehicles, handling flatbed and general freight deliveries while upholding the highest safety standards.

You will plan routes, complete logs and checks, and communicate with dispatch and customers to coordinate delivery times. A clean C+E license and relevant experience are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• HGV Class 1 (C+E) license with a clean driving record.
• Proven experience with flatbed loads and delivery operations.
• Knowledge of current road safety regulations and transport legislation.
• Ability to load/unload cargo and secure loads on flatbeds.
• Strong navigation skills and use of route planning tools.
• Excellent communication and customer-focused approach.
• Flexibility to work varying shifts, including early mornings, evenings, or weekends.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate HGV Class 1 vehicles, including flatbed trucks, following traffic laws and company policies.
• Load, secure, and unload cargo with precision and care.
• Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections for maintenance and safety.
• Plan efficient routes to optimise delivery schedules and reduce transit times.
• Complete delivery logs, vehicle checklists, and compliance paperwork.
• Communicate with dispatch and customers to coordinate delivery times and resolve issues.
• Maintain a professional appearance and positive attitude with clients and team members.
