Job summary

Oyster Recruitment Limited seeks a Field Service Engineer to service, calibrate and repair essential electronic gas detection equipment across client sites in the UK. You will test systems, demonstrate operation to customers and act as the main on-site contact for service visits.

The role requires a full UK driving licence, experience in electronic equipment service, and a technical qualification (HNC/HND or equivalent).

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence required.
• Experience in electronic equipment service, troubleshooting and repair.
• HNC/HND in electronics or electrical field or equivalent.
• Field service experience desirable.
• Commissioning/installation experience desirable.
• Confined Space/IPAF or Safety Passport qualifications desirable.
• Knowledge of gas detection systems or similar equipment desirable.
• Overtime paid (1.5x, Sundays double time).
• 5-hour work week with travel time included.

Responsibilities

• Service, calibrate and repair electronic gas detection equipment.
• Test serviced equipment thoroughly and demonstrate function to clients.
• Be on-site contact and communicate work findings to customers.
• Collaborate with engineers on larger jobs and plan schedule with Service Admin.
• Manage van stock and calibration gas to aim for first-time fix.
• Complete and submit accurate service reports and safety documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Service, calibrate and repair essential electronic gas detection equipment.
• Test all serviced equipment thoroughly to confirm it is fully operational, demonstrating its function to clients to ensure their confidence and understanding.
• Act as a key point of contact on-site, communicating clearly with customers about the work completed and any technical findings.
• Collaborate with other engineers on larger jobs and work closely with the Service Administration team to plan and optimise your schedule.
• Manage your own van stock and calibration gas efficiently, aiming to provide a first-time fix on every visit.
• Complete and submit accurate, professional service reports and safety documentation.

Who They’re Looking For:

• Full UK driving licence
• Experience in electronic equipment service, troubleshooting and repair
• HNC/HND in electronics or electrical field, or equivalent technical qualification
• Previous field service engineering experience, desirable
• Commissioning and/or installation experience, desirable
• Confined Space, IPAF, or Safety Passport qualifications, desirable
• Knowledge of gas detection systems or similar technical equipment, desirable
• Paid overtime (1.5x hourly rate, with double time on Sundays)
• 5-hour work week with travel time included
