Job summary

Oyster Recruitment Ltd is helping a forward-thinking client recruit a Field Service Engineer to service, calibrate and repair electronic gas-detection equipment across the UK. You will work independently in the field, travelling to client sites and ensuring installations and maintenance are completed to the highest standards.

The role requires a full UK driving licence, hands-on electronics expertise, and a relevant qualification such as HNC/HND in electronics or a similar field.

Qualifications

• Experience in servicing and repairing electronic gas-detection equipment.
• Ability to fault-find and diagnose issues on site.
• Willingness to travel across the UK.

Responsibilities

• Service, calibrate and repair essential electronic gas detection equipment.
• Test serviced equipment thoroughly and demonstrate operation to clients.
• Act as on-site point of contact, explaining work and findings.
• Collaborate with other engineers and Service Admin to plan schedules.
• Manage van stock and calibration gas to maximise first-time fixes.
• Complete accurate service reports and safety documentation.

Field Service Engineer

Our client is a forward-thinking organisation committed to creating a safer, cleaner and healthier future through innovative gas detection solutions. They're looking for a Field Service Engineer to join their growing team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Service, calibrate and repair essential electronic gas detection equipment.
• Test all serviced equipment thoroughly to confirm it is fully operational, demonstrating its function to clients to ensure their confidence and understanding.
• Act as a key point of contact on-site, communicating clearly with customers about the work completed and any technical findings.
• Collaborate with other engineers on larger jobs and work closely with the Service Administration team to plan and optimise your schedule.
• Manage your own van stock and calibration gas efficiently, aiming to provide a first-time fix on every visit.
• Complete and submit accurate, professional service reports and safety documentation.

Who They’re Looking For:

• Full UK driving licence
• Experience in electronic equipment service, troubleshooting and repair
• HNC/HND in electronics or electrical field, or equivalent technical qualification
• Previous field service engineering experience, desirable
• Commissioning and/or installation experience, desirable
• Confined Space, IPAF, or Safety Passport qualifications, desirable
• Knowledge of gas detection systems or similar technical equipment, desirable
