Job summary

Moog Wolverhampton is seeking an Electronics Design Engineer - Test Systems to design analogue and digital electronics for multi-axis, closed-loop test systems. The role involves applying safety standards, defining architectures, and delivering tested equipment releases within the Test Systems group.

You will work on industrial machines, with experience in LabVIEW, JIRA, DOORS, MATLAB, and low-level programming. BPSS clearance is required to maintain access and compliance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree (Masters preferred) in electronic/electrical subject.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in developing electronic/electrical solutions for multi-axis, closed-loop test systems.
  • Experience designing for safety related equipment, PLCs and motor drive systems.
  • Experience and knowledge of industrial machines manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Design analogue and digital electronics to support hydro-mechanical test systems.
  • Apply safety standards and guidelines to test equipment systems.
  • Define architectures, requirements, design, verification, and release for Test Systems.
  • Assist with electronic/electrical solutions in test equipment proposals.
  • Prepare documentation and participate in technical reviews.
  • Support root-cause investigations of test equipment systems.
  • Identify training to maintain electronic capabilities.
  • Ensure health & safety practices are followed and address issues.
  • Write or review risk assessments.

Job Title: Electronics Design Engineer - Test Systems. Reporting To: Manager, Test Systems Design. Work Schedule: Onsite - Wolverhampton, GBRMoog Wolverhampton are currently recruiting for a Electronics Design Engineer - Test Systems at our facility in Wolverhampton.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design analogue and digital electronic solutions to support the production and control of a wide range of hydro-mechanical & electro-mechanical Test Systems
  • Application of safety and industry standards and guidelines in the design and integration of electronic and electrical solutions into Test Equipment Systems.
  • Application of: top-level architecture, requirements definition, concept, design, verification & validation methods and final release for Test Systems.
  • Assist the Test Systems Design Manager with the definition of electronic/ electrical solutions in the creation of detailed Test Equipment Proposals.
  • Prepare and release documentation in support of the Test Equipment Common Development Process, including active participation at technical reviews with peers and Chief Engineers.
  • Support Root Cause investigations into all aspects of the Test Equipment System and/ or components as required.
  • Identify appropriate training courses to maintain electronic / electrical capabilities within Moog Wolverhampton Test Equipment Group
  • Ensure all Health & Safety practices are followed and, any new issues raised during any work activities.
  • Write or assist with the completion and review of work related Risk Assessments.
What You’ll Bring
  • Bachelor Degree, preferably a Masters, in a relevant Electronic/ Electrical subject area as a minimum.
  • Demonstrable commercial experience of complex analogue and digital electronics design.
  • Particularly with application to closed loop control and transducer conditioning.
  • Experience of the design and manufacture of industrial machines.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in the development of Electronic/ electrical solutions for multi-axis, closed loop, servo-hydraulic and electromechanical Test Systems.
  • Including the design, selection and application of Safety Related Equipment, PLCs and Motor Drive systems.
  • Additional recognised qualifications in the application of Safety related Directives and Standards would be advantageous.
  • Proficient in the use of diagnostic equipment to fault find electronic and electrical issues from first principles.
  • Experience in one or more of the following: eCAD, PCB Software, LabView, DOORS, JIRA, MatLab and SubVersion is advantageous.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft applications including Excel, Word, VISO and Project.
  • Knowledge of PC operating platforms (DOS/ Windows/ Microsoft Environments) and Low Level Programming (C++, Visual Basic)
