Job summary

MTrec Technical is recruiting an Electronics Design Engineer to join a leading engineering client. The role involves analysing requirements, designing power electronics, and developing reliable, manufacturable solutions.

Responsibilities include design verification, documentation, testing, and collaboration with a cross-functional team to deliver high-quality products on schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 2+ years' experience in electronics design.
• Experience designing power circuitry and gate drive circuits.
• Strong knowledge of circuit analysis and simulations.
• Ability to document design verification traces.

Responsibilities

• Analyse and understand customer and regulatory requirements.
• Carry out feasibility studies to select topologies.
• Design and debug power electronic circuits and PCB assemblies.
• Document schematics, BOMs, wiring diagrams and calculations.
• Design, setup and run tests to verify specifications.
• Develop new techniques and test methods for product design.
• Maintain records of designs, tests and analyses.
• Collaborate with the design team to meet objectives.
• Troubleshoot circuits from prototypes and customer returns.
• Assist other departments in resolving design issues.

The Job You'll Do:

• Analyse and understand customer and regulatory requirements.
• Carry out feasibility studies to determine most suitable topologies to meet requirements.
• Design and debug power electronic circuits, components and PCB assemblies for new product development and sustaining projects.
• Document generation, schematics, BOM's, wiring diagrams, simulations, circuit design calcs.
• Design, setup and run tests to ensure the design meets specifications.
• Develop and apply new techniques, circuits and tests for product design.
• Maintain records and documentation on all designs, tests and analysis.
• Apply current techniques and tools to improve cost, design time, reliability, durability, and manufacturability.
• Work within a design team to complete assigned objectives.
• Troubleshoot circuits from prototypes, development, and customer returns.
• Participate in the preparation of development specifications.
• Assist other departments in the resolution of design related problems that arise during any phase of development or production.

About You:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Electronics Engineering or similar
• 2+ years' experience in electronics design or similar
• Experience of designing power circuitry
• Experience of gate drive circuits and technologies.
• Experience of designing low-voltage signal level control circuits
• Demonstrated knowledge of circuit analysis, simulation and design of experiments.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, including mentoring capabilities.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Good documentation discipline for due diligence and design verification traceability
• Good understanding of Hazards and working safely
• Practical lab experience of electronic fault finding and use of test instrumentation.
• A good mix of theoretical and practical adaptability
