Job summary

Elevations Technical is seeking an Electronics Design Engineer (R&D) to join a multi-disciplinary team. You will lead hands-on electronic hardware development across the full lifecycle, from concept through prototyping and production support, with responsibilities spanning schematic capture, PCB design, bench testing and fault analysis.

Electronics Design Engineer (R&D)

Elevations Technical, Design & Projects team are looking for an Electronics Engineer with strong PCB design experience encompassing the full product development lifecycle.

This is an opportunity to join an established R&D team working on the development of technically complex products, with responsibility spanning electronic design, prototyping, testing, fault-finding and production support. You'll have the opportunity to take ownership of your own projects, work closely with experienced engineers and play a key role in turning new concepts into robust, production-ready products.

The Role

This is a hands-on electronics development position, working as part of a multi-disciplinary R&D team to develop and improve a diverse range of products.

You’ll be involved throughout the development lifecycle, including:

• Designing and developing new electronic hardware solutions
• Schematic capture and PCB design/layout
• Building and testing electronic prototypes
• Conducting bench testing, evaluation and iterative design improvements
• Taking ownership of hardware development through to product integration
• Working closely with other engineers on technical problem-solving and design reviews
• Providing technical support to production and investigating manufacturing issues
• Carrying out component-level fault finding and root-cause analysis
• Implementing corrective actions and supporting continuous improvement
• Working with product specialists to define technical requirements
• Maintaining accurate engineering documentation and project records

There will also be opportunities to work with other areas of the business, including providing technical support to customers and internal teams, with some potential for international travel.

About You

We're looking for an experienced Electronics Engineer with a strong background in R&D and hardware development.

You’ll ideally have:

• 5+ years' experience working within an electronics R&D environment
• Strong PCB design experience, including schematic capture and PCB layout
• Experience using Altium, Eagle, Proteus or similar
• Strong practical experience with electronics prototyping and bench testing
• Component-level fault-finding experience
• Experience supporting manufacturing and resolving production issues
• A degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Embedded Systems or a related discipline
• Experience with C/C++, embedded microcontrollers, STM32/PIC and communication protocols such as SPI, I2C, USB or TCP/IP would be advantageous.
• Knowledge of IPC standards or highly regulated technical environments would also be beneficial.
