Job summary

KLA SensArray in Newport, Wales, is seeking a manufacturing technician to perform precision soldering and assembly of semiconductor components under a microscope, following SOPs and engineering drawings.

You will conduct visual inspections, maintain records, and support continuous improvement while working Monday to Friday in a clean, controlled environment. This permanent role offers 25 days leave, pension, health plan and other benefits as part of a comprehensive rewards package.

Job description

• Soldering miniature electronic components under a microscope.
• Using tweezers and precision tools to place and position very small parts.
• Applying conformal coating to protect sensitive electronic assemblies.
• Carrying out detailed self-inspection and quality checks.
• Following manufacturing procedures and work instructions.
• Maintaining accurate production records.
• Working as part of a supportive team to deliver high-quality products to customers.

Inspection & Quality

• Conduct visual inspections using microscopes and magnification equipment.
• Identify workmanship defects and elevate quality concerns where required.
• Complete documentation accurately and maintain manufacturing records.
• Support incoming, in-process and final inspections as required.

General Manufacturing Duties

• Follow standard operating procedures and manufacturing processes.
• Work safely with approved cleaning agents, adhesives and process chemicals.
• Support continuous improvement activities to improve quality, efficiency and productivity.
• Maintain a clean, organised and professional work area.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Comfortable performing repetitive precision tasks under a microscope.
• Ability to follow detailed work instructions and engineering drawings.
• Strong quality mindset and commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Good communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team.

Desirable

• Previous experience in precision manufacturing, electronics assembly, medical device manufacturing, aerospace manufacturing or semiconductor manufacturing.
• Experience working under magnification or microscopes.
• Experience with adhesive application, coating, bonding, potting, encapsulation or similar assembly processes.
• Understanding of quality standards and inspection techniques.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications., GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
• NVQ, BTEC, apprenticeship or equivalent technical qualification would be advantageous but is not essential.
