Job summary

KLA SensArray Newport in South Wales is recruiting a dedicated Quality Control Technician. You will inspect incoming materials, perform in-process checks, and approve final product release in a precision electronics environment.

Based at our Newport site, you’ll support NCRs, containment and continuous improvement while ensuring adherence to cleanliness, documentation, and traceability standards.

Qualifications

• Previous Quality Control or Quality Assurance experience within an electronics manufacturing environment.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, work instructions, and quality requirements.
• Experience performing visual, dimensional, documentation, or final product inspections.
• Strong attention to detail with the confidence to challenge non-conforming work.
• Competent in Microsoft Office and ERP systems.

Responsibilities

• Incoming Quality Control: inspect materials, verify part numbers, elevate non-conforming material.
• In-Process Quality Control: perform checks across production lines and ensure SOPs are followed.
• Outgoing Quality Control: complete final inspection and ensure packaging and labeling meet requirements.
• Non-Conformance & Quality Improvement: raise NCRs and drive root cause investigations and corrective actions.

At KLA SensArray, we manufacture highly specialised semiconductor metrology & inspection equipment used by leading semiconductor manufacturers worldwide. Based at our state-of-the-art facility in Newport, South Wales, this role offers the opportunity to work in a clean, precision manufacturing environment where attention to detail and craftsmanship are critical to product quality.

As the dedicated Quality Control (QC) Technician you will provide independent quality inspection and verification across the SensArray manufacturing process, covering incoming materials, in-process production activity, and final outgoing product release.

The role is responsible for ensuring that products, components, substrates, documentation, cleanliness standards, meet defined requirements before progressing through production.

Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities

Incoming Quality Control

• Inspect incoming materials, substrates, components, consumables, and supplier documentation against defined specifications.
• Confirm correct part numbers, revision levels, quantities, packaging condition, and traceability requirements.
• Identify, quarantine, and elevate non-conforming or suspect material before release to production.
• Maintain accurate incoming inspection records and support supplier quality follow-up where required.

In-Process Quality Control

• Perform quality checks across SensArray production lines, including High Temp, Etch Temp, TC, RTD, and DISIS, to confirm products and processes meet applicable standards.
• Verify operators are working on current SOPs, work instructions, process controls, and quality requirements.
• Conduct routine quality gates, process audits, and workmanship checks during key manufacturing stages.
• Monitor ESD, cleanliness, documentation, and product handling standards across the production area.
• Support containment activity and stop escalation when quality risks are identified.

Outgoing Quality Control

• Complete final inspection of finished products before shipment.
• Review product quality records, test data, manufacturing documentation, labelling, and traceability.
• Confirm products meet customer, internal, packaging, and shipping requirements before release.
• Approve, reject, or elevate product release decisions based on inspection outcome.

Non-Conformance & Quality Improvement

• Raise and support Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) for identified defects or process failures.
• Assist with containment, root cause investigation, corrective action, and preventive action activity.
• Track recurring issues, quality trends, and defect data to support continuous improvement.
• Work with Production, Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to reduce risk and improve process capability.

Skills & Experience

• Previous Quality Control or Quality Assurance experience within an electronics manufacturing environment.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, work instructions, and quality requirements.
• Experience performing visual, dimensional, documentation, or final product inspections.
• Strong attention to detail with the confidence to challenge non-conforming work.
• Competent in Microsoft Office and ERP systems.

Desirable

• Experience in semiconductor, electronics, clean manufacturing, or high-reliability production environments.
• Knowledge of ESD controls, cleanroom practices, ISO 9001 quality systems, SPC, and quality metrics.
• Experience using microscopes, metrology equipment, or other inspection tools.
• Understanding of root cause analysis and continuous improvement methodologies.

Qualifications

• HNC qualification or equivalent technical qualification would be advantageous
