Job description

Our esteemed client, a trusted partner of the UKs Ministry of Defence, is seeking an Electronic Engineering professional to lead the design, development, and production transfer of MBDA UK electronics equipment. To meet growing project demands, the team is expanding across all three UK sites and enhancing lab facilities. As a result, Lab Technicians are needed to ensure labs are well-maintained, efficiently run, and support high standards of engineering delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Electronic Engineering Lab Manager, the Lab Technician will play a vital role in maintaining high standards across lab operations. This includes ensuring safety, cleanliness, and efficiency while supporting engineering teams with technical tasks and stakeholder coordination.

  • Maintain lab housekeeping and ensure a clean, organised environment at all times
  • Support lab users with proper use of stores and materials
  • Coordinate project schedules and lab usage requirements
  • Assist with lab activities, including monitoring tests and performing CCA rework to IPC standards
  • Manage calibration and maintenance of lab equipment and assets
  • Assemble and disassemble test setups and fixtures as needed
  • Train lab users in basic lab skills such as soldering, crimping, and equipment use
  • Oversee lab security and access control for authorised personnel only
  • Liaise with Electronic Engineering stakeholders including project managers and governance teams
  • Collaborate with wider MBDA teams including logistics, facilities, manufacturing, and security

What do you need?:

  • Proven experience in managing and maintaining engineering lab environments to industry standards
  • Valid IPC certifications in J-STD-001 and IPC-7721, demonstrating compliance with recognised electronic assembly standards
  • IPC-A-610 certification highly advantageous for ensuring quality and reliability in electronic assemblies
  • Strong working knowledge of Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) protocols and best practices for safe handling of sensitive components
