Job summary

National Grid is seeking a Network Technician at its Gloucester depot to manage the underground and overhead network up to 66kV. You will program and monitor immediate colleagues, issue safety documents, and support standby rosters while ensuring safe, compliant operations.

Ideal candidates have City & Guilds 2339 Level 2 in Electrical Engineering, and a full UK driving licence. Training to 11kV switching will be provided where needed.

Qualifications

• GCSE A*-C/4-9 in English and Maths or Functional Skills Level 2 in both subjects.
• Evidence of your qualifications will be required prior to appointment.
• Experience with switching up to 66kV and LV/HV network operations is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Network operations up to 66kV including issue of safety documents and Permit to Work.
• Construction and maintenance of distribution substations and overhead/underground network up to 66kV.
• Repair and replacement of faulty plant and cables; recording asset routes and positions.
• Work within a team and contribute to safety-focused operations.
