Job summary

Gateshead Council is seeking an Electrician to undertake electrical repairs, refurbishment and upgrades across a diverse housing portfolio. You will work solo or in teams, liaising with customers and subcontractors to provide a responsive service and maintain high safety standards.

The role requires working across a broad schedule within 8:00–20:00 hours, with some out-of-hours participation and cross-trade collaboration as needed. A valid NVQ 2 level qualification and CSCS card are expected.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 Electrical or equivalent qualification.
• Diploma in Electrical or relevant experience.
• CSCS card or willingness to achieve.
• Full driving license or access to mobility support.

Responsibilities

• Carry out electrical repairs, refurbishment and upgrades across the Council's housing portfolio.
• Work individually or as part of a team delivering high quality electrical work.
• Collaborate with other trades to support the one front door approach.
• Liaise with customers and subcontractors to provide a responsive service.
• Record labour and materials using electronic and paper systems.
• Adhere to health and safety requirements and CDM regulations.

Job description

You will be working as an Electrician undertaking electrical work covering repairs, refurbishment and upgrades to all property types within the Council's property portfolio and as required in line with business need. You will undertake minor cross trade work to support the service 'one front door approach', be proactive in all aspects of health and safety, and work collaboratively with the team to deliver positive outcomes for our customers. The service operates from 8am to 8pm to meet customer need, therefore, there may be a requirement for some later working. We also operate an out of hours arrangement and employees will asked to participate. What you'll get involved in:

• To work individually or as part of a team undertake high quality work to a range of Council housing portfolio
• To undertake works in association with other trades
• To undertake minor cross trade work to support the service 'one front door approach' and deliver the service customer promise
• To liaise with customers and subcontractors to provide a responsive service
• To undertake a continual programme of risk assessment in relation to your role.
• To utilise both electronic and paper-based systems to accurately record the use of labour and materials against each job
• To demonstrate excellent conduct and behaviour which promotes cross service working to achieve an excellent service provision and outcomes for customers
• To be proactive in all aspects of health and safety management to comply with current legislation, including CDM Regulations, promoting a culture of good health and safety practice within the working environment, in line with Council policies and procedures

The Knowledge

• Health and Safety procedures and regulations
• The Construction Industry Electrical experience repairs and maintenance.
• Undertaking all aspects of Electrical works
• Experience of and ability to work at height, on scaffold, and in confined spaces, NVQ level 2 and Diploma Electrical qualification or relevant experience.
• Full driving license or access to mobility support
• Current CSCS Card or willing to work towards qualification
