Job summary

Dumfries and Galloway Council is seeking a qualified Electrician to join the M.A.R.S. team. You will perform electrical maintenance, repair, testing and installation across a varied property portfolio, ensuring compliance with BS7671 and safety standards.

The role includes on-call standby, a structured salary (£33,621–£35,853 per year), generous leave and access to Local Government Pension Scheme, cycle-to-work scheme and other staff benefits.

Qualifications

• Electrical qualification required (SVQ3/NVQ3 or equivalent).
• 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations knowledge required (Amendment 2 preferred).
• City & Guilds 2391 Inspection & Testing or equivalent.
• Clean full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Carry out electrical repairs, maintenance and installation work in commercial and domestic properties.
• Undertake fault-finding, diagnosis and remedial works on electrical systems.
• Complete electrical testing and inspection with appropriate certification.
• Install and modify electrical circuits and containment systems per BS7671.
• Ensure all work complies with health and safety legislation and council procedures.
• Maintain accurate records using council systems.
• Provide professional and customer-focused service to building users.
• Work as part of a multi-skilled team and support other trades.
• Participate in the on-call rota as required.
