Job summary

Mears Group is delivering a long-term social housing repairs and maintenance partnership across the wider Midlands region. We are seeking skilled Electricians to join our team in Evesham to deliver high-quality electrical repairs, installations, testing and maintenance across tenanted domestic properties.

You will perform fault-finding, rewires, consumer unit upgrades and EICRs, ensuring work meets current regulations and safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Full UK driving licence and clean record.
  • Domestic/social housing experience preferred.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installations with AM2.
  • City & Guilds 18th Edition required.
  • Inspection and Testing 2391 or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Repair and replace faulty electrical accessories in tenanted properties.
  • Inspect, test and certify electrical installations for compliance.
  • Diagnose faults and rectify issues in consumer units (fuse boxes).
  • Install new electrical accessories and carry out rewires.
  • Work independently or in a team to meet daily targets.
  • Communicate clearly with tenants about works and outcomes.
  • Keep work areas clean, safe, and compliant with safety policies.

Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent, 42.5hrs per week, Monday to Friday

Salary: £40,862.00 + company van and fuel card, with additional opportunities for overtime. There is also an optional out-of-hours call rota, providing the chance to further enhance your overall earnings.

Providing housing repairs and maintenance services across a geographically diverse social housing portfolio covering market towns, rural communities and urban locations, the contract includes responsive repairs, planned maintenance and property services, with a strong focus on customer service, quality and community investment.

Due to continued growth across the contract, opportunities are available for experienced Electricians across South Worcestershire, North Gloucestershire, and surrounding areas.

About the Role:

The role includes fault‑finding, rewires, consumer unit upgrades, EICRs, responsive repairs and ensuring all work meets current regulations and safety standards.

Duties:
  • Repair and replace faulty electrical accessories, including socket outlets, light fittings, switches and extractor fans
  • Inspect, test and certify electrical installations to ensure compliance with current regulations and safety standards
  • Fault diagnosis and rectification of consumer units (fuse boxes).
  • Installation of new electrical accessories, including socket outlets, light fittings, switches and extractor fans
  • Carry out first fix electrical works, including full and partial rewires
  • Install additional socket outlets, cabling and associated accessories as required.
  • Work independently or as part of a team to achieve daily repair and completion targets
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with tenants and residents, explaining the nature of works and expected outcomes
  • Ensure work areas are left clean, safe and tidy on completion of all tasks. Fully with all health and safety policies, procedures and risk assessments
  • Always deliver a high standard of customer care
  • Use relevant IT and job management systems to manage, prioritise and complete workloads efficiently and within agreed timescales
Role Criteria:
  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installations - to include AM2
  • City & Guilds 18th Edition (If you have 17th edition you can work through your 18th edition)
  • Inspection and Testing 2391 or equivalent (2394/2395)
  • Full UK driving licence with a clean driving record
  • Previous domestic, social housing experience
