Job summary

Aspirare Recruitment is seeking an experienced Maintenance Electrician for an ongoing contract at an older prison facility in the United Kingdom, earning £30.00 per hour CIS or via Ltd Company.

The role covers planned and reactive maintenance, a 35-hour week, and weekend overtime paid at double time; on-call allowance applies and full on-site training is provided. DBS/Basic Disclosure is required, and a full UK driving licence is essential.

Qualifications

• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification.
• Time-served electrical maintenance experience.
• Full UK driving licence and ability to drive.
• Basic Disclosure is essential, with full disclosure required when working on site.
• Willingness to undertake full site-training covering radios and personal defence.
• Flexibility to participate in the on-call rota and undertake reactive maintenance when required.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across an older prison facility.
• Maintain and repair electrical and electronic systems including CCTV, locking systems, building management systems, heating and ventilation, and emergency lighting.
• Complete weekly fire alarm checks and routine system inspections to ensure equipment remains safe and operational.
• Respond to maintenance issues, diagnose faults, and carry out repairs efficiently.
• Participate in a one-in-five on-call rota, covering seven consecutive days when scheduled.
• Follow site procedures relating to security, keys, radios and personal defence.

• Paid 35 hours per week.
• Monday to Thursday working pattern, 8:00am to 4:00pm or 4:30pm, with an unpaid lunch break.

• On-call allowance of £147 for each seven‑day on‑call period, plus four hours' pay.
