Job summary

Hoop Housing seeks a skilled Electrician to join our Newport team. The role covers repairs, installations, testing and maintenance across domestic properties, ensuring homes are safe and well maintained for residents.

You will perform inspections, certificates and respond to faults, while mentoring apprentices and working with residents and colleagues to deliver excellent service.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
• City & Guilds 2391 or equivalent Inspection & Testing qualification.
• AM2 or equivalent.
• A completed electrical apprenticeship or equivalent experience.
• Experience in electrical testing, inspection, maintenance and fault finding.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• A full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Carry out electrical repairs, installations, rewires and new circuits across domestic and commercial properties.
• Complete electrical testing, inspections and certification.
• Maintain and test fire alarms, emergency lighting, smoke alarms and door entry systems.
• Diagnose and repair electrical faults, heating controls and associated systems.
• Make sure all work meets current regulations, health & safety standards and agreed timescales.
• Work closely with colleagues, contractors and residents to deliver an excellent service.
• Support and mentor apprentices and other team members.

You’ll enjoy a varied role, working across domestic properties, carrying out everything from electrical repairs and testing to installations and maintenance. Most importantly, you’ll be helping to keep homes safe, comfortable and well maintained for local residents.
