Job summary

Gap Personnel is recruiting a Shift Electrician to join the Estates & Facilities team at a busy NHS hospital. This temp-to-perm opportunity offers long-term stability, excellent benefits and the chance to support frontline healthcare services.

You will maintain, repair and test electrical systems across a large healthcare environment, ensuring critical services remain operational 24/7 with overtime options and NHS working conditions.

Qualifications

• City & Guilds Level 3 Electrical Installation or equivalent.
• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671) knowledge.
• Proven experience in electrical maintenance and fault-finding.

Responsibilities

• Planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on electrical systems and equipment.
• Diagnose and repair electrical faults efficiently.
• Carry out electrical testing and inspections.
• Respond to emergency breakdowns across the hospital site.
• Ensure compliance with statutory regulations and NHS standards.
• Complete maintenance records and documentation accurately.
• Support other Estates team members when required.
• Work safely and adhere to Health & Safety policies at all times.

We are recruiting for a skilled Shift Electrician to join the Estates & Facilities team at a busy NHS Hospital. As an Electrician, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and testing electrical systems across a large and varied healthcare environment, ensuring critical services remain operational 24/7.

Working Hours

• Either 8am-4pm Monday to Friday or 12-hour shifts on a rotating shift pattern


• Days and nights required if on shift pattern


• Includes weekends and bank holidays as part of the rotaif on shift pattern

Key Responsibilities

Requirements

Essential

• City & Guilds Level 3 Electrical Installation or equivalent


• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671)


• Proven experience in electrical maintenance


• Fault-finding and diagnostic experience


• Ability to work independently and as part of a team


• Full UK driving licence (desirable)

Desirable

• Previous experience within a hospital, healthcare, or large commercial environment


• Inspection & Testing qualification (2391 or equivalent)


• Experience working on critical building services systems
