Job summary

Gov Facilities Services Limited (GFSL) seeks an Electrician to join the team at HMP Pentonville, a category B/C adult male prison. You will maintain and repair electrical systems, working with plumbers, carpenters, cleaners and administrators to keep operations safe and secure for prisoners and staff.

The role requires a BS7671:2018 certificate, Level 3 qualification in Electrical Installation, and at least two years as a fully qualified electrician with experience on commercial/industrial

Qualifications

• Certificate in BS7671:2018 (18th edition) required.
• Level 3 qualification in Electrical Installation or Electrotechnical Services with AM2/AM2S (2367/2357) required.
• Two years' experience as a fully qualified electrician.
• Experience on commercial or industrial electrical systems.
• Good Health & Safety knowledge.
• Excellent organisational, time management and people skills.

Job description

We are seeking a dedicated Electrician to join our team at a HMP Pentonville, a category B/C adult male prison. HMP Pentonville runs like a self-contained city, it takes hundreds of people to keep it functioning, and as the Facilities Maintenance Team we are committed and driving the smooth and safe operation, like a heart that pumps blood through the body, everything we do impacts every prisoner, employee, and visitor, and wider to the families and community. As an Electrician, you will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced and passionate colleagues who vary from Plumbers, other Electricians, Carpenters, Painters, to Cleaners, and Administrators, and others, who are all dedicated to making a positive difference, providing a safe and secure environment for all.

Qualifications

• Certificate in BS7671:2018 (18th edition)
• Level 3 qualification in Electrical Installation or Electrotechnical Services (City & Guilds/EAL), including relevant NVQs and competency assessments (AM2/AM2S). For example: 2367 or 2357.
• Two years' experience working in a role as a fully qualified electrician
• Experience working on commercial or industrial electrical systems
• Good working knowledge of planned and preventive maintenance operationsGood Health & Safety knowledge
• Excellent organisational, time management and people skills

Future Plans

GFSL has been notified by it's shareholder (MOJ) that the provision of FM Services will in future be delivered by the private sector. This means that following a successful procurement process, GFSL's services will complete transfer to a private sector provider/providers no sooner than August 2027.
