Job summary

Gov Facilities Services Limited (GFSL) seeks a Level 3 Electrical Installations qualified Electrician to join the Facilities Maintenance team at HMP Exeter, a Category B local prison. This permanent, full-time position works 39 hours weekly, contributing to a secure and rehabilitative environment.

You will collaborate with electricians, plumbers, carpenters, painters, cleaners and administrators to maintain commercial/industrial electrical systems and ensure safety standards are met.

Qualifications

• Certificate in BS7671:2018 (18th edition).
• Level 3 qualification in Electrical Installation or Electrotechnical Services (City & Guilds/EAL), including relevant NVQs and AM2/AM2S.
• Two years' experience as a fully qualified electrician.
• Experience on commercial or industrial electrical systems.
• Good knowledge of planned and preventive maintenance.
• Good Health & Safety knowledge.
• Excellent organisational, time management and people skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform electrical installations and maintenance as part of the Facilities Maintenance team.
• Collaborate with electricians, plumbers, carpenters and other staff to ensure safe operations.
• Contribute to safety compliance and timely maintenance tasks.
• Support re‑habilitation and safe environment initiatives at HMP Exeter.

Salary: £41,964.47 per annum including £1,000 additional allowances

Contract: Permanent, full time, 39 hours per week

We are seeking a Level 3 Electrical Installations qualified Electrician to join our Facilities Maintenance team at HMP Exeter, a Category B Adult Male local prison.

We are a Ministry of Justice business and provide critical and time-bound services to HMPPS, and are looking for an Electrician with a combination of:

• Certificate in BS7671:2018 (18th edition)
• Level 3 qualification in Electrical Installation or Electrotechnical Services (City & Guilds/EAL), including relevant NVQs and competency assessments (AM2/AM2S). For example: 2367 or 2357.
• Two years' experience working in a role as a fully qualified electrician
• Experience working on commercial or industrial electrical systems
• Good working knowledge of planned and preventive maintenance operations
• Good Health & Safety knowledge
• Excellent organisational, time management and people skills

Future Plans.

GFSL has been notified by it's shareholder (MOJ) that the provision of FM Services will in future be delivered by the private sector. This means that following a successful procurement process, GFSL's services will complete transfer to a private sector provider/providers no sooner than August 2027.
