Job summary

CBRE is seeking a hands-on Data Centre Electrician in Exeter to perform planned preventive maintenance, electrical projects and reactive works across critical systems. You will work on site, ensuring safety, quality records, and timely fault diagnosis and repairs.

The role requires formal electrical qualifications, the ability to work under pressure, and a commitment to excellent customer service, with potential for working with subcontractors and maintaining CBRE’s professional standards.

Qualifications

• Formal electrical qualification with BS7671 18th edition and 2391 inspection.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance on electrical plant, equipment and systems.
• Execute reactive and breakdown tasks across all electrical systems.
• Diagnose and repair electrical faults and replace faulty components.
• Test electrical systems to ensure safety standards are met.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, tests and repairs.
• Supervise sub-contractor works and ensure RAMS and permits compliance.

Job description

Job Title: Data Centre Electrician

This role is for a hands-on working electrician to carry out:

• Planned preventative maintenance
• Electrical projects
• Electrical extra Works
• Reactive and breakdown works across all electrical systems

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure that routine maintenance is carried out to all electrical plant, equipment, and systems in accordance with task schedules and asset lists.
• All reactive tasks throughout the building are completed, proactive in highlighting areas where improvements can be made.
• Diagnose and repair electrical faults, replacing faulty components and/or wiring.
• Test electrical systems and equipment to ensure they meet safety standards and regulations.
• Ensure all electrical work complies with relevant building regulations and safety standards
• Maintain accurate records of work performed, including inspections, tests, and repairs.
• Ensure electrical plant faults and defects are swiftly remedied to maintain all year up time.
• Ensure RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements) are prepared and used for all tasks undertaken to always ensure safe working practises.
• Supervising and monitoring of sub-contractor works whilst they are on site undertaking maintenance/fixes, keeping them honest. Ensuring permits and RAMS are adhered to.
• Ensure that all critical areas, under the responsibility of CBRE, are locked and kept in a clean and tidy condition.
• Understand the business systems, processes and procedures associated to the site.
• Ensure the provision of a safe and healthy working environment.
• Highlight gaps across the critical spares to the operations manager.
• Build and develop relationships with all on-site CBRE staff, sub-contractors, and client representatives.
• Ensure the professional image of CBRE is always presented to the client and sub-contractors.
• Undertake lone working where required.
• Participate in EOP/SOP scenario type training and undertake technical assessment tests.
• Undertake other tasks directed by the account management team.

Skills

• Formal electrical qualification, BS7671 18th edition regulations (amendment 3) and City and guilds 2391 test and inspection.
• Good communication etiquette.

• Calm manner, able to work under pressure and make sound decisions when needed.
• Physically fit and able to carry tools and components by hand up to 20kg.
