Job summary

CBRE is seeking an M&E Shift Supervisor to oversee planned and reactive maintenance across mechanical and electrical systems at the Exeter data centre facility. You will ensure high uptime, manage shift technicians, and coordinate sub-contractors while upholding CBRE safety standards.

The role requires hands-on electrical qualifications, experience with UPS, generators, HV, PDU and CRAC units, and strong IT literacy. Externally, you will liaise with clients and maintain a professional CBRE image.

Qualifications

• Experience in a fast-paced operational environment.
• Knowledge of UPS, Generators, HV, PDU, CRAC units with fault finding from alarms.
• Electrical qualification BS7671 18th edition desirable.
• Excellent IT skills, MS Office, CAFM system desirable.
• Strong communication and relationship management skills.
• Ability to work on own initiative and multi-task.

Responsibilities

• Complete and maintain JSP375 Authorized person HV/LV electrical qualification.
• Carry out HV/LV switching utilising the JSP 375 safety procedure.
• Performance manage your shift technician and shift workload.
• Complete all 34 mock drill scenarios annually and ensure technician completes them as well.
• To perform the routine PPM across the mechanical and electrical plant.
• Ensure that all reactive tasks are logged and completed to meet and exceed expectations and agreed service level agreements.
• Respond to BMS generated alarms and fix plant faults to maintain uptime.
• RAMS prepared and used for all tasks to ensure safe working practices.
• Dynamic Risk Assessment also in place.
• Supervising and monitoring of sub-contractor works; ensure permits and RAMS adhered to.
• Ensure critical areas under CBRE are secure and tidy.
• Understand site business systems and procedures.
• Provide a safe and healthy working environment.
• Identify gaps across critical spares to ops manager.
• Build relationships with on-site CBRE staff, sub-contractors, and client representatives.
• Maintain professional image of CBRE and promote excellent customer service.
• Undertake lone working where required.
• Run emergency procedures and training; complete assessments.
• Undertake other tasks directed by account management.
• Ensure PPE and policies compliance.
• Log at least 4 constructive observations per month.
• Complete CCAM data centre solutions training certificate.

Role Responsibilities

• Complete and maintain JSP375 Authorised person HV/LV electrical qualification.

• Performance manage your shift technician and shift workload.
• Complete all 34 mock drill scenarios annually and ensure technician completes them as well.
• To perform the routine PPM across the mechanical and electrical plant.
• Ensure that all reactive tasks are logged and completed to meet and exceed expectations and agreed service level agreements, proactive in highlighting areas where improvements can be made.
• Respond to BMS generated alarms and ensuring all plant faults and defects are swiftly responded to and fixed to maintain all year up time.
• Ensure RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements) are prepared and used for all tasks undertaken to always ensure safe working practises.
• Dynamic Risk Assessment also in place.
• Supervising and monitoring of sub-contractor works whilst they are on site undertaking maintenance/fixes, keeping them honest. Ensuring permits and RAMS are adhered to.
• Ensure that all critical areas, under the responsibility of CBRE, are secure and kept in a clean and tidy condition.
• Understand the business systems, processes and procedures associated to the site.
• Ensure the provision of a safe and healthy working environment.
• Identify and highlight gaps across the critical spares to the operations manager.
• Build and develop relationships with all on‑site CBRE staff, sub-contractors, and client representatives.
• Ensure a professional image of CBRE to the client, and visitors, and ensure excellence in customer service is delivered and always promoted.
• Undertake lone working where required.
• Run through all emergency operating procedures and standard operating procedure scenario type training and undertake technical assessment tests.
• Undertake other tasks directed by the account management team.
• Ensure the provision of a safe & healthy working environment is met, including the wearing of uniform and appropriate PPE always. To ensure compliance with all CBRE and client policies and procedures.
• Log at least 4 x good or constructive observations per month.
• Complete and maintain a CCAM data centre solutions training certificate, ensure training is completed before the required date.

The 24/7/365 Shift Pattern Is

• Early shift 0545/1400 hrs
• Late shift 1345/2200 hrs
• Night shift 2145/0600 hrs
• Provide AP cover across other shifts during annual leave.

Skills

• Experience of working in a fast paced, operational environment.
• Must be able to demonstrate relevant knowledge of UPS, Generators, HV, PDU’s, CRAC units or equivalent, which will include the ability to fault find using the production of graphical information and the utilisation of current alarm data.
• Formal electrical qualification, BS7671 18th edition regulations is desirable.
• Excellent IT skills, competent across Microsoft Office programs and experience with a CAFM system is desirable.
• Strong relationship management with colleagues, clients and sub-contractors demonstrating excellent communication / influencing skills.
• Strong organizational abilities ensuring all documentation are stored and auditable.
• Ability to work to own initiative and multi-tasking / prioritising workload.
• High customer focus.
• Committed to the delivery of excellent customer service.
• Log 4 x constructive and positive observations.
• Experience with CBRE systems is desirable, but not essential.
• Calm manner, able to work under pressure and make sound decisions when needed.
• Physically fit and able to carry tools and components by hand up to 25kg.
• Able to work at heights and or confined spaces.
